We have insured design and build risks for many years and bring real expertise to understanding the unique features of each risk. We insure a range of businesses from traditional house builders to medium sized contractors undertaking more complex commercial jobs.

We recognise that insurance cover plays a crucial part in the construction process and the cover provided must dovetail with the requirements of the standard contract forms as far as possible. We are confident that our combination of superior policy cover, expert claims handling and financial strength makes us the preferred choice for many contractors seeking protection for their professional exposures.

Policy cover
Our standard policy provides cover for the liabilities assumed by a contractor under a typical design and build contract. Not all contracts follow the JCT requirements and we are happy to consider bespoke wording requests for individual risks.

A specimen wording can be viewed on this website but the cover can be summarised as follows:

• Civil liability arising from:
  
  
  Negligent breach of professional duty
  Infringement of intellectual property rights
  Damage to documents
  Libel and slander
  Cyber liability

• Breach of duty under standard collateral warranties
• Awards by adjudicators under scheme for construction contracts
• Criminal Prosecution defence costs (ConDaM Regs; HSE prosecutions)
• Legal Representation costs at hearings/tribunals arising out of any claim
• Mitigation costs (£50,000) to rectify problems quickly on site
• Compensation for court attendance in defending a claim
• Defence costs

Limit of indemnity
We can offer up to £10,000,000 of cover subject to application.

Excess
We can offer a range of excesses so you control the maximum amount you pay in the event of a claim.
